THE GOVERNMENT
Yucatan belongs to the United States of Mexico: and it is free and sovereign in all that concerns its interior regimen, as established on the principles of the Federal Constitution.
The state of Yucatan adopts the republican government, democratic, representative, and popular.
The public power in the state is divided in legislative, executive and judicial.
The legislative power in the state is concentrated in a representative’s assembly that will be called “Congress of the State of Yucatan” The executive power focuses in a citizen who shall be called “Governor of the State of Yucatan”. The election of the governor will be popular and direct, and conducted under the terms the electoral law states. The exercise of the judicial power will be concentrated in the tribunal of superior justice, in the court of first instance and in other established or later on established by the law.
The State, in its human life regulator function, will do what is necessary to assure the solidarity of its members and to guarantee an equal participation on the well-being that comes out of the human interaction.
The State, through its public authorities, guarantees respect to the right of people to live in an ecological environment and the protection of the ecosystems that are part of the natural heritage of Yucatán.
On July 2012, Rolando Zapata Bello was elected to be the governor of Yucatán, after beating Partido Acción Nacional’s candidate, Joaquín Díaz Mena, for the period 2012-2018, and began his administration as Governor of Yucatán on October 1st, 2012.
People from Yucatan is not very involved in politics. Some of them prefer to stay away from political activities just to demonstrate that they are against the government. However, many Yucatecans attend to political events or are part of them. Every administration is always polemical as the services offered or works done are not good enough to satisfy population needs. Although this problems, people do not use to protest because they rarely show themselves against political issues.

GOBIERNO
El Estado de Yucatán es parte integrante de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos: y es libre y soberano en todo lo que concierne a su régimen interior, conforme a los principios establecidos en la Constitución Federal.
El Estado de Yucatán adopta la forma de gobierno republicano, democrático, representativo y popular.
El Poder Público del Estado de Yucatán se divide, para su ejercicio, en Legislativo, Ejecutivo y Judicial.
El Poder Legislativo del Estado se depositará en una Asamblea de Representantes que se denominará «Congreso del Estado de Yucatán». Se deposita el Poder Ejecutivo del Estado en un ciudadano que se denominará «Gobernador del Estado de Yucatán». La elección del gobernador será popular directa y se hará en los términos que disponga la Ley Electoral. Se deposita el ejercicio del Poder Judicial del Estado en un Tribunal Superior de Justicia, en los Juzgados de Primera Instancia y en los demás establecidos o que en adelante establezcan las Leyes.
El Estado, en su función ordenadora de la convivencia humana, ejercerá la acción que le compete, en la medida necesaria para asegurar la solidaridad de los elementos asociados y garantizar a éstos una equitativa participación en el bienestar que nace de la convivencia misma.
El Estado, por medio de sus Poderes Públicos, garantizará el respeto al derecho de todo individuo de gozar de un ambiente ecológicamente equilibrado y la protección de los ecosistemas que conforman el patrimonio natural de Yucatán.
En julio de 2012, Rolando Zapato Bello resultó electo para gobernador de Yucatán, tras vencer a su contrincante del Partido Acción Nacional, Joaquín Díaz Mena para el sexenio 2012-2018, inició su gestión como gobernador del Estado el 1 de octubre de 2012.
La gente del estado de Yucatán no está muy presente en la escena política, ciertos sectores de la población se quedan al margen de las actividades políticas para mostrarse en contra del gobierno, sin embargo son varios yucatecos los que confluyen a los eventos políticos o forman parte de este tipo de actividades. Los diferentes gobiernos siempre son motivo de polémica debido a los malos servicios otorgados o a las malas obras realizadas, aun así son pocas las manifestaciones de la gente, pues esta rara vez van más allá de mostrarse apática hacia el tema político.
